BATH — The Bath Family Dance will take place tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Bath Dance Works, 72 Front St. on the third floor.
This is a beginner-friendly event based on the old-time dances done in New England since colonial times. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the community dance was the highlight of the week in many American towns. Gathering at the local grange or town hall, neighbors and townspeople of all ages gathered to exchange news, dance and socialize.
Simple dances are taught and danced to live fiddle music. Musicians are welcome to join the allcomers band.
Suggested donation is $3 a person and healthy snacks will be served.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
