BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College junior setter Sophia Cornew has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.
Cornew racked up nine assists and 3.36 digs per set, as the Polar Bears reeled off three straight NESCAC wins. The setter also tossed in a team-best seven aces during the week.
After collecting 30 assists and 14 digs in Bowdoin’s 3-0 win over Colby on Friday, Cornew recorded her second double-double of the week on 23 assists and 15 digs in a 3-0 victory over Bates on Saturday.
She closed out the week with 46 assists, eight digs and four blocks in the Polar Bears’ thrilling 3-2 triumph over Tufts later that day. Cornew was also named NESCAC Player of the Week on Sept. 10.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action tonight with a match at Maine Maritime (6 p.m.) before returning home for a quartet of matches this Friday and Saturday at Morrell Gymnasium.
