NEWCASTLE — The 10th season of Heartwood Regional Theater Company will open with the Broadway musical “Godspell” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln Academy’s Poe Theater, under the direction of Griff Braley.
“Godspell” was conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, best known for “Pippin” and “Wicked.” It features many well-loved songs including “Day by Day,” “All for the Best,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “Beautiful City.”
Evening performances will continue on Oct. 20, 25, 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m.; two Sunday matinees will run at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 28.
Tickets are $8 for students through high school and $16 for adults. Seating is general, unless specially requested in advance.
