RANGELEY (AP) — Maine wardens are planning to use a remotely operated, underwater device when they resume their search for three men who are presumed to have accidentally ridden their snowmobiles into Rangeley Lake’s icy waters earlier this winter.
The Maine Warden Service said Monday that divers will be on standby Wednesday in case the underwater vehicle locates the men’s bodies.
It’s believed the men accidentally rode their snowmobiles into open water in the lake on Dec. 30, the same night a Yarmouth woman was killed when she rode her snow sled into the lake.
The search was put on hold in early January because of cold and ice.
