Police were unable to find the person who allegedly assaulted a Portland man and left him at the Big Apple on Pleasant Street early Tuesday.

The assault was reported at 2:58 a.m.

Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said a 25-year-old Portland man who had been drinking told police he was assaulted by someone he was in a vehicle with, but he did not know who the person was and provided police with a vague description.

He reportedly was punched in the head, had a very minor had abrasion and did not require transport.

Hagan said police were unable to find the person who punched the man or the vehicle in which he was riding.
