BRUNSWICK — “Mental Health Changes and Progression that Come with Dementia,” a presentation focusing on the early recognition and management of mentalhealth related behaviors that may develop in persons with dementia, will be held 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21.
Elaine Diaz and Lynn Wolfe, mental-health nurses with CHANS Home Health Care, will talk about how caring for someone with dementia is an exceptionally big responsibility, with unique challenges and rewards.
After the presentation, Diaz and Wolfe will facilitate a discussion about caregiver experiences with mental health changes in the person(s) they care for, possible courses of action, and available resources for addressing those behaviors.
The group will be co-facilitated by Cindy Hughes, activities director at The Garden, an assisted living home for those living with dementia.
The support group is free and open to the public. It meets the third Thursday of every month at Mid Coast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Drive.
