BATH

Police on Wednesday arrested the same man arrested Monday in connection with burglaries from two city businesses and acquiring drugs by deception.

This time, there is no bail for Kurt Johnson, 47, of Bath. Officer Jason Aucoin stopped Johnson for speeding at 4:30 p.m. on Richardson Street, and later charged him with violation of conditions of release and receiving stolen property. Johnson is being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Mark Johnson, 31, of Bath, was a passenger in Kurt Johnson’s vehicle and he, too, faces charges. Mark Johnson is being held on a probation hold, and a charge of receiving stolen property.

Police Chief Michael Field said on Thursday that the elder Johnson was subject to search, because he was out on bail. Aucoin found a hunting knife and tool gloves with the price tags still attached, Field said. Aucoin also found liquor in the vehicle, the chief said.

Police determined that the tools had been stolen from Bath Industrial Sales on New Meadows Road in West Bath, Field said.

On Monday, Kurt Johnson allegedly tried to steal tools from Rogers Hardware in Bath, and also stole a smartphone from Coastal Glass. When police arrested him, they found two half-empty bottles of prescription drugs that Johnson had filled earlier in the day, Field said.
