To the Editor:

I can’t believe the letter Kendall Merriam wrote to The Times Record downing the shipbuilders of Bath Iron Works (“Shame on you, Bath Iron Works,” page A6, Feb. 28).

What gives him the right to say we ought to be ashamed of ourselves? We are not. We are very proud off what we do. We wouldnt have the freedom today if it wasn’t for our armed services. We want our men and women who go out to sea to have best ships in the world. And yes, I am one off those shipbuilders and my friends at work feel the same.

Yes, you are right, we probably would need hospital ships if we didnt have our Navy, because there would be so many off us needing care after our enemies blew our country apart. So think before you wright such a degrading letter. You ought to be ashamed off yourself.
