Kenneth Yore, 84, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Damariscotta, Maine, died peacefully at home in Florida on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

He was known by his family as Ken and was born in Lewiston, Maine, on March 20, 1931, to Edward and Esther (Abbott) Yore.

His family moved to Bath, Maine, to work at Bath Iron Works, building destroyers for the U.S. Navy. He attended Morse High School and worked at American Can Company in Illinois and Bath Iron Works in the accounting department.

Ken also worked as a private chauffeur for Mrs. Olivie Mases at the Iron Works. He chauffeured actor John Wayne when he came to christen a destroyer.

He was a former member of the Polar Masonic Lodge and the West Bath Grange.

Ken is survived by his wife Doris; they were married on Aug. 31, 1958. He is also survived by his daughter, Deirdre and her husband, Kent Jewett, grandchildren, Nicole and Nathaniel Jewett, as well as two sisters, June Manning of Coral Gables, Fla., and Muriel Milna of Brunswick, Maine, and several cousins.

Kenneth and wife Doris lived in Bath, Maine, most of their married life. In 1993, they became snowbirds, spending seven months in Florida and five months at their cottage in Lake Pemaquid, Damariscotta, Maine.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 16 at David E. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home in Bath, Maine. Interment will follow at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath, Maine.
