A 14-inch-by-28-inch bronze plaque was unveiled on an exterior wall of the visitor center, recognizing the history of rail transportation in Brunswick, according to Brunswick Rotary President David Gleason.

A new train platform was completed last year as the Amtrak Downeaster began service on Nov. 1 after a 52-year absence of passenger train transportation, he said.
Town Manager Gary Brown accepted the plaque on behalf of the town, and thanked the Brunswick Rotary Club for its initiative and contribution to giving public visibility to this aspect of the heritage and history o f Brunswick. Rotarian Chuck Mull and the Rotary Pride and Her- itage Committee were recognized for their work in developing the text of the plaque over the past year.
The Pejepscot Historical Society and Rotarian John Farnham assisted in researching the history of train service to Brunswick.
Other historic sites recognized by the Rotary club are described online at www.brunswickrotary.org .
