The Feed Our Scholars Initiative, whose goal is to provide weekend packets of nutritious food for Wiscasset school children suffering food insecurity, is readying its first fundraising event.
A spaghetti feast combined with an abundant silent auction is set for Saturday, April 6, beginning at 5 p.m, at St. Philip’s Church.
At a cost of $8 for adults, $4 for children younger than 12, one can indulge in spaghetti and homemade vegetarian sauce, with the option of meatballs, and salad donated by Sarah’s Restaurant.
Rounding out the meal will be garlic bread, a choice of beverage and homemade desserts prepared by members of the St. Philip’s and First Congregational churches of Wiscasset.
People will have the opportunity to bid on a wide array of auction items.
Tickets are available at Treat’s, Ames Supply and Kidz Closet; or make a reservation by calling 882-7184. Leave your name, number of tickets and a call-back number.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
