Residents at Town Meeting will vote May 8 on a proposed Temporary Business Ordinance.
Its stated purpose would be “to regulate temporary business activities so that temporary stands, concessions and exhibits are allowed only upon meeting certain minimum regulations.”
Selectboard Chairman David King said Monday that, in the past, vendors that have set up along the side of U.S. Route 1, have created a potentially dangerous situation on the busy stretch.
The ordinance would stipulate that such vendors must have permission from landowners to set up signs and conduct their business.
“It would bring the town into compliance with what the state says on Route 1,” King said. “It is a closed-access highway.”
