AUGUSTA — The U.S. Small Business Administration presented its annual small business awards Tuesday at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor. Among those who received awards was Coastal Enterprises, Inc.

The awards were presented to small business owners and small business champions from throughout Maine.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and recognizing those who work so hard to succeed and create new jobs is truly an honor,” said Marilyn Geroux, SBA district director for Maine.

This year’s awardees included:

— Matthew Qualey, president of Qualey Granite and Quartz in Veazie, the Small Business Person of the Year Award.

— Terry Ingram, president and CEO of Allagash International, Inc., the Small Business Exporter of the Year Award.

— Dennis Lajoie, CEO of Community Concepts Finance Corp. in Lewiston, the Financial Services Champion Award.

— Alfred “Fred” Lebel, chairman of Maine Heritage Weavers in Monmouth, the Veteran-owned Small Business of the Year Award.

— Nancy O’Brien, owner of Fiore, LLC, located in Bar Harbor, Rockland and Bangor, the Woman-owned Small Business of the Year Award.

— Kurt and Kathy Cressey, owners of Pack Baskets of Maine in Orrington, the Micro-Enterprise of the Year Award.

— Jennifer and Jason Daigle, owners of Lakeview Restaurant & Camping Resort, the Jeffrey Butland Award.

— Cory Laplante, owner of Northern Prosthetics in Presque Isle, the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

— David Allen, president of Howell Laboratories in Bridgton, the Subcontractor of the Year Award.

District Director’s Awards were presented to:

— Bangor Savings Bank

— People’s United Bank

— TD Bank

— Kennebunk Savings Bank

— Granite State Economic Development Corp.

— Norstate FCU

— Coastal Enterprises, Inc. for being the top performing microlender in Maine.
