BOWIE, Md. — Despite hitting three solo homers, the Portland Sea Dogs (25-38) lost the Eastern League series finale to the Bowie Baysox (34-28), 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Prince George’s Stadium.

Portland dropped two of three in the series and four of six on the road trip.

Portland led 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but Bowie scored twice to take the lead for good. Justin Haley was lifted after a lead-off walk to Brandon Snyder. Trey Mancini hit the first pitch from Simon Mercedes (1-2) over the left-field wall, his second homer of the season.

In the eighth, the Baysox added insurance off John Cornely. Snyder delivered and RBI double and Mancini had a sacrifice fly.

Terry Doyle (6-1) beat Portland for the second Sunday in a row. Doyle worked six innings on five hits, three runs and three solo homers. Ashur Tolliver fanned four over two innings for a hold and Andrew Triggs struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the season.

Portland hit its third homer off Doyle in the fifth. With one out, David Chester launched his fourth home run of the season, putting Portland in front 3-2.

The Sea Dogs are off today, and open up a three-game series with the Binghamton Mets on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
