TOPSHAM
Police arrested a Topsham man who was allegedly under the influence of drugs when he drove across a lawn Wednesday morning and hit a parked dump truck on Middlesex Road.
After an investigation of the crash reported at 8:11 a.m., Topsham Police Chief Christopher Lewis said police arrested Robert Stilphen, 47, of Topsham, and charged him with operating under the influence of drugs.
According to Lewis, Stilphen drove a blue Volvo station wagon across the roadway, across a lawn and over a flower bush, narrowly missing a residence before striking the rear of a dump truck parked in the driveway.
No one was injured, including Stilphen, who was the sole occupant in the car.
After the crash, Stilphen was transported to Freeport Police Department for processing by a drug recognition expert and then brought back to Topsham Police Department where he posted the $60 bail.
