BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Golf Club recently held its Men’s Club Championship, featuring ma unique match-up.
Caleb Manuel, age 13, of Topsham and Brunswick’s Jim Merritt, 72, represented the youngest and oldest qualifiers in the event’s match play phase. They were paired against each other, with Manuel coming out on top, 1- up. Manuel won the match on the 18th hole in dramatic fashion.
Also, Manuel recently qualified for the Maine Amateur Championship with a round of 79 at Biddeford-Saco Country Club.
Others qualifying from Brunswick were Nate McCue, Alex Viola and Tomas Fortson.
