BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College women’s tennis players Tess Trinka and Izzy Essi were both recognized in All-New England Small College Athletic Conference awards handed out on Thursday.
Trinka was named First Team Singles and Second Team Doubles, while Essi was named Second Team Doubles. Trinka was also honored with the league’s Senior Sportsmanship
Award.
Additionally, Trinka has qualified for the NCAA Division III individual singles tournament and will also compete in the doubles championship with Essi. The individual NCAA Division III championships will be held May 24-26, both at The Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California, and will be hosted by the Claremont-Mudd- Scripps.
Bowdoin’s Tess Trinka is the second Polar Bear to earn the honor, joining Sarah D’Elia (2009). Trinka also moved up to the First Team singles after earning Second Team singles recognition in 2015 and 2017. She was also a Second Team doubles selection in 2016. Trinka went 17-8 playing at No. 1 for Bowdoin this season. At No. 1 doubles, Trinka and Essi went 12-9 as a pair this season.
