Introducing Dodge’s new compact sedan, the Dart

Chrysler products have undergone a whirlwind of change since the American brand was bought up by Italian automaker Fiat. The new Dodge Dart is the company’s first cooperative project. Not only does the Dart replace the aging Caliber, but it also adds a new dimension to the American manufacturer. Indeed, the all-new Dart is based on the Italian-designed and -built Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, although it is larger and longer. Options under the hood include a basic 160-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; a turbocharged 160-horsepower 1.4- liter engine; or a more powerful 184- horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder powerplant. The transmissions offered in accordance with the chosen engines are a six-speed manual, a sixspeed automatic, or a dualclutch six-speed semi-automatic. All Darts are front-wheel drives with independent suspension all around. This new car faces some fierce competition, but with its modern styling and roomy interior, it should be able to make the Dodge brand stand out.
