Former champion distance runner John Underwood will speak to students and athletes at two local schools during a Sept. 12 seminar on healthy living and training.
Underwood, a former NCAA-All American distance runner and World Masters Champion, has coached more than two-dozen Olympians. He has studied the impact of nutrition as well as alcohol and marijuana use on sports performance for more than a decade and has been an advocate for drug-free sports at all levels.
He will speak at two sessions, both free of charge and open to the public. The appearances are sponsored by Access Health, which is coordinated by Mid Coast Hospital.
The first session will be held at Orion Theater at Mt. Ararat High School from 10- 11:30 a.m.; the second session will be held at Morse High School in Bath 6:30 to 8 p.m
