PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Officials in Providence, R.I., say they’ve suspended a school bus monitor after a 5- year-old girl was dropped off with no one waiting for her and she roamed city streets for more than an hour.
Antonia Dwyer tells WJARTV her daughter was supposed to get in a van and be taken to a day care after attending Harry Kizirian Elementary School on Wednesday. Instead, she got on a bus and was dropped off on Branch Avenue.
Dwyer says a couple saw her daughter wandering and took care of her. Dwyer later met up with them at a diner. The girl wasn’t harmed.
