BIDDEFORD — Organizers of the sixth annual Mainiac Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon being held at Gil Boucher Park in Biddeford Pool on Sept. 8, say there are still spots open for last minute entries.
The triathlon consists of a one-quarter mile swim, a 14.85-mile bike ride and a 3.1- mile run. The duathlon consists of a two-mile out and back beach run, a 14.85-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. The courses for the events are considered to be the most scenic of any triathlon in New England and are suitable for both first time and seasoned athletes.
All proceeds from the Mainiac Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon, which are USAT (United States America Triathlon) sanctioned, will go towards the YMCA of Southern Maine’s financial assistance program which ensures the Y’s services and programs are available to all, regardless of ability to pay.
