Wicasset Library to host silent auction
WISCASSET — Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library will be hosting an evening featuring music, food, drink and a silent auction from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. The event will raise money for the Wiscasset Public Library and will be held at Marianmade Farm at 155 Federal Street in Wiscasset.
Silent auctions items include a plane ride, a boat ride and picnic, an overnight stay at a local bed and breakfast, paintings, jewelry and more. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Wiscasset Public Library is on 21 High St.. Tickets can also be purchased for $25 per person at the door.

BDA halfway toward holiday lighting goal
BRUNSWICK — It may feel like summer, but the Brunswick Downtown Association is busy raising money for holiday lighting. The organization’s fundraising goal is to raise $15,000 to decorate Brunswick’s downtown in holiday lights for the 2015 holiday season.
The BDA has raised $7330 and would like to thank the following sponsors: Dead River Company, Bill Dodge Auto Group, Maine Natural Gas and Priority Real Estate Group, LLC.
Last year, the BDA increased the lighting on the Town Mall by adding lights to the trees on either side of the gazebo and the Veteran’s Memorial. In addition, all of the lampposts along Maine Street were wrapped were adorned with live wreaths and those on the Mall were also wrapped with white lights. “We want residents and visitors to our community to feel the warmth and beauty of our downtown during the Holiday Season” said BDA Executive Director Debora King.
Fundraising progress can be tracked on the BDA’s new fundraising thermometer, created in the shape of a tree, which will be installed at the entrance to the Tontine Mall, 149 Maine St.
Donations to the Holiday Lighting Fund can be made online at www.brunswickdowntown.org/forms/holiday lighting or in person at Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections at 143 Maine St. in Brunswick. Those who donate $10 or more receive a free chocolate.

Land Trust to hold 30th anniversary BBQ
BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust will celebrate its 30th anniversary Saturday with a barbeque celebration at Crystal Springs Farm from 4 to 7 p.m.
