Topsham’s Caleb Manuel held the opening-round lead at the AJGA Coca-Cola Championship after play on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Mt. Ararat High School golfer struggled, shooting a second round 76 to fall to third place, with the third and final round currently underway at Sugarloaf Golf Club.
Stephen Campbell Jr. broke a first-round tie for second and broke away from the field a bit. The Texas native enters today with a four-shot lead over Camden’s Cole Anderson, the defending champion.
Manuel, after a second-round 76, sits a 2-over par, in a tie for third with Neal Shipley of Pittsburgh.
Blake Benson, who was tied with Campbell after the first round, struggled in his second round and is now tied for 20th at 9-over. Scarborough’s Anthony Burnham is one shot back and tied for 24th.
Kristine Tran, of California, followed up her first-round 70 with a 74 on Wednesday, good enough to take over the lead from Ontario’s Haley Yerxa.
