BATH — The Elks Drive Out Cancer Golf Scramble will be held Aug. 25 at Bath Golf Club.
The event is to benefit the Bath Area Food Bank. The food bank provides service within the community. It assists individuals and families in Bath, Woolwich, West Bath, Phippsburg, Arrowsic, Georgetown, and others in need as it feeds 200 families each month. An average of 120 individuals each week are served a meal and given a second meal to go through the Bath Kitchen Table. The bank provides snacks to schools from elementary through high school (1,000 pounds of snacks in 2017). The bank also maintains two mini food banks within Morse High School.
Every $1 raised provides $1.70 in comparable food.
There will be a four-person scramble and silent auction along with entertainment. The cost of the scramble is $75 per person.
Registration is at 11 a.m., and the shot-gun start will begin at noon.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
