BRUNSWICK

The Merrymeeting Community Rowing Association is slated to host the Cow Island Classic on Sunday.

The Mowing Rowing Association regatta begins at 9 a.m. and is the home of the Maine state championships.

Rowers from across New England will meet at the Androscoggin at the Water Street ramp for both sweep rowing and sculling events, including a 5K loop.

Entries are limited to 80 shells. The event is open to men, women and juniors. The finish line will be the boat ramp, and spectators are encouraged to watch the race. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each boat class as well as the top three masters single scullers.

MCRA is in its eighth season and has a fleet that includes fours, a quad and several singles. New rowers are always welcomed and are encouraged to attend an MCRA free safety orientation on the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m.
