The Morse High School field hockey team opened its season with a solid 7-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lincoln Academy on Thursday at McMann Field.
In the opening half, Morse (1-0) grabbed a 3-0 lead as Kim St. Pierre (assisted by Lily Thibodeau), Vanessa St. Pierre (Thibodeau) and Kennedy St. Pierre (Vanessa St. Pierre) picked up a goal each.
In the second frame, Abby Durgin scored the final two goals.

The visiting Eagles received a goal and an assist each from Wyley Fitzpatrick and Brea Holtet for a KVAC win over the Windjammers.
Brynn Charron chipped in an assist in the win, while goalies Lily Schenk and Emma Lapreziosa split three saves.
Boys soccer
WALDOBORO — Asa Hodgdon scored on a penalty kick as Morse battled to a 1-1 KVAC deadlock with Medomak Valley.
Morse received solid play from Ethan Pascuzzo, Hodgdon, Ouimette and Alden Harkins, along with Aaron Landel, Gavin Hanna and Christian Keenans.

The visiting Falcons opened with a Western Maine Conference win over Gray-New Gloucester.
Freeport, 1-0 and slated to host Greely on Wednesday at 6 p.m., received two goals from Will Winter, including a penalty kick. Jake Dumont and Wes Goodwin chipped in a goal each. Dumont added an assist. In net, Atticus Patrick turned away five shots for the Falcons.

The host Falcons received goals from three different players en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win over Wiscasset/ Boothbay.
The Wolverines (0-1) picked up a goal from Tim Shappelle, with netminder Caleb Gabriele turning away 13 shots.
Girls soccer
WALDOBORO — Cassie Smeltzer scored in overtime to lift Medomak Valley (1-0) to a 2-1 KVAC overtime win over Morse in season-opening action for both teams.
Emily Martin tallied the lone goal for Morse (0- 1) off an assist from Wren Tetreault. Netminder Abby Sreden turned away four shots.
