The “Coats for Senior’s collection” will take place at the LL Bean Flagship Store in Freeport from November 22-24.
Gently used, adult sized coats can be dropped off in the L.L. Bean lobby all weekend long. If you can’t make it to Freeport that weekend, a list of other satellite collection spots is listed on the Maine AAA website, www.maine4a.org. The coats will be distributed to seniors in need through Maine AAAs and other community agencies.
L.L. Bean will also donate $5 for each coat received to Maine AAA to provide emergency heating assistance to low-income seniors.
“Coats for Seniors” is supported by J&J Cleaners which generously donates services to clean coats. Goodwill Industries will provide vouchers for purchasing coats from their retail stores where storage of coats is not practical.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
