Halloween

Halloween is here
Goblins dressed in their gear
Scary noises we do hear
But never stops the cheer!
November
By Lynn Baker
I love November. The days grow shorter and the nippy mornings turn my lazy stroll into a quickstep as I take my daily river walk, breathing in the smell of wood smoke and roasting coffee beans. I forsake rice flakes and berries for hearty oatmeal and raisins, I surrender crisp cold salad to the warmth of Pumpkin stew and gingerbread.
The lush green of summer and the vibrant colors of October give way to burnt bronze and reveal the lacy silhouettes of trees, now bare, against the sparkling clear sky.
Ah, November, harbinger of winter’s beauty
From the Window of the Train
By Betty King
A car top paved with wet
leaves, like a gnome house,
a solitary golden tree, like a
small miracle,
a blush of winterberry
against bronze marsh grasses.
Gentle colors, like the
shades of April which, in
spring
signal the start of a wild
race against nature,
outpacing weeds, beetles,
woodchucks and deer, to reach
the terminal toil of harvest.
Today the last fruit is bottled, he last root stored.
The gentle shades of
November announce an
Advent of
clarity, contemplation, rest,
and peace.
