PORTLAND — A Shape Note Singing session is slated for Sunday, Nov. 3, from 1- 4 p.m. at The New Church, 302 Stevens Ave.

This four-part singing tradition, also known as Sacred Harp, originated in Colonial America and is enjoying a revival nationwide.

Shape note harmonies are unusual and exciting to sing, according to a news release from organizers.

This is not a performance; everyone is welcome to participate.
