BRUNSWICK — The Joint Commission, an accreditor of health care organizations in America, recently lauded Mid Coast Hospital as one of its Top Performers.

Mid Coast received the award for its performance using evidence-based clinical processes that have been demonstrated through industry practices to improve care for conditions such as heart attack or failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.

Eleven Maine hospitals received the Top Performer distinction for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. The ratings are based on an aggregation of data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2012 calendar year.

In order to receive this designation, Mid Coast Hospital achieved a cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures. Each accountability measure represents an evidencebased practice.
