SWAMPSCOT T, Massachusetts — Mary Ann Ruel, 47, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, formerly of Lyman, died Feb. 8, 2016, at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Mary was born in Biddeford on June 24, 1968, a daughter of Leo and Nancy (Hammond) Ruel.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1990 from the University of New Hampshire, and went on to earn her master’s degree in environmental engineering at Tufts University. She also completed an associate’s degree in graphic design and an executive mini-MBA in strategic leadership.

Mary worked for the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and the AFL. She later received her real estate license while working for Keller-Williams with Gail Luchini, selling property in the North Shore area of Massachusetts.

Mary enjoyed photography, and was a reiki master. She was an energy therapist and life coach with Manchester Healing Arts Center, the career that she was most passionate about. She also enjoyed hiking, cycling and crystal energy. Mary was an avid reader who started several book groups that became social circles with numerous friends.

Mary is survived by: her parents, Nancy and Leo Ruel of Lyman; her sister, Patricia Ruel Hussey and her husband Donald of Lyman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow later in the spring at Goodwins Mills Cemetery in Lyman.
