FREEPORT – Michael S. Cuskelly, 62, died at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough Wednesday June 26, 2019.

He was born in New York, N.Y., May 9, 1957 to Delores Tusang. He and his twin sister, Mary, were adopted children of Michael J. and Dorothy M. Dowd-Cuskelly. He was a graduate of Brewer High School. He married KC Marie Brown June 3, 2018.

His life’s passion was his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, which he served for over 50 years. He joined as a Cub Scout in Levittown, N.Y. in 1969. In 1973 he worked at Camp Roosevelt in Eddington where he would eventually become the camp director. He worked as a senior district executive director in Katahdin Area Council for many years. Among many achievements, he was a recipient of Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow and Silver Beaver Award.

Most recently, he worked in customer service with LL Bean for 10 years, earning recognition in 2013 as “LL Bean’s Best”. He was an active member of Rotary, a Brother of Delta Chi Fraternity (Gorham State Chapter), and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of Council 5756.

He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Beth McCormack.

He is survived by his wife, KC Cuskelly of Freeport; a son, Max A. Corwin of Bucksport; a brother John B. Cuskelly of Brewer, two sisters, Patricia Desiato and Judy Dyer of Schenectady, N.Y.; his mother Delores Metchik of Schenectady, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, Jonathan, Marlee, Matt, and Mandy.

Friends and family are invited to visit 4-6 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday July 2, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Mckeen Street, Brunswick. Mr. Cuskelly will be interred in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
