Brunswick – Robert Michael Jacobs, 74, passed away at Mid Coast Hospital on July 28, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on August 14, 1944 in Hope, Maine to Jennie M. and George E. Jacobs. After graduating from Union High School in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked as a weapons system mechanic on the F-105 Thunderchief from 1963 to 1967. Robert then worked for the Ironworkers Local 496 in structural iron projects and on sites such as Maine Yankee and the Portland Public Library. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an excellent photographer, taking and developing pictures of people, places, and events nearby.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Andrea; two sons Richard and Robert Jacobs Jr.; three grandchildren, Allison, Jennie, and Robert Jacobs III; and one great grandchild, Hendrick Jacobs. He is also survived by two brothers, Wilbur and Edward, and one sister, Edith Clarey.
The funeral service will be held at Open Bible Baptist Church in West Bath on Friday August 2, 2019 at 10:00 am.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be given to the Arthritis Foundation or charity of your choice. Internment will be held at a later date.
