Editor,
On Wednesday, June 6, known as “D-Day,” the new “Heroes Wall” was unveiled at the Volk Packaging Corporation.
There are over 200 plaques on the wall. There are men and women who have served in the military.
You can have a picture of the person honored, their name, branch of service, military awards and where they served.
This was the idea of Derek and Amy Volk to honor our veterans. The wall was built at the Volk company, 11 Morin St. in Biddeford.
Derek would like to see both sides of the wall covered. Come see the wall, there is a box at the wall with information about how to honor your veteran.
At the unveiling, Derek said, “Don’t thank me, thank a veteran.”
Thank you to all the veterans, and both Derek and Amy.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
