BUXTON — It is the time of year when many of Maine’s towns get ready for June municipal elections and annual Town Meetings — and to run for office, prospective candidates must file nominations papers.
In Buxton, nomination papers are now available for a number of elective offices, and must be returned to the town office by 4:30 p.m. May 1, said Town Clerk John Myers.
Nominations are available for the town clerk’s position, a three-year term; two, three-year selectmen’s board seats; one three-year and one two-year MSAD 6 directors’ terms; a three-year Planning Board term; and one two-year and two three-year budget committee terms.
Secret ballot voting for municipal offices, along with MSAD 6 budget validation vote and any state ballot, is 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road.
Buxton’s annual Town Meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Town Hall.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
