Zumba has arrived in Windham at Northeast Academy of Dance.

Combining Latin and International music with unique moves and combinations, Zumba participants can dance away their worries, according to long time fitness guru/dancer Dinah Aldrich.

“It is Richard Simmons meets Antonio Banderas,” said Aldrich, one of only 12 certified Zumba teachers in Maine. It is based on the principle that a workout should be fun and easy to do, allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits.

The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.

Zumba class times at Northeast Academy of Dance, 456 Roosevelt Trail, are Thursdays from 7 – 8 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30-10:30 a.m. For more information, call 892-2655.
