Rotary speaker talks on organ donation
At a recent Westbrook-Gorahm Rotary meeting,
Scott Linscott discussed his medical emergency at at Disney World in May 2011, when he found out his liver had failed and he had only a short time to live,
He eventually received a partial liver transplant from his son, and that “started Scott on his life’s work of encouraging people to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors either on a driver’s license or with the New England Organ Bank,” club spokesman Paul Emery said in a statement.

Seniors’ season opener
Westbrook Senior Citizens are set for its first meeting of the fall at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
TiKi Thom and Lynda Adams, a musical duo, will entertain.

Kids Safety Day is Saturday
The free “Kids Safety Day” featuring demonstrations with free hot dogs, popcorn, water and soda is set for 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Hannaford parking lot.
Westbrook Public Safety, Saco & Biddeford Savings, and Hannaford is sponsoring the event open to the public.
Button club to meet
The Casco Bay Button Club will meet noon-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall on Brown Street in Westbrook. Jeanne Keefe of Greene will present a program on Jacksonian buttons. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Hike the trail to Westbrook
Presumpscot Regional Land Trust is sponsoring a guided hike on the newly opened section of the Sebago to Sea Trail on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-noon, as part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend.
The trail, from South Windham to Westbrook, is now open for hiking. This section of the trail is for pedestrian use while the railbed remains inactive.
“The first 1.5 miles from South Windham is a flat easy walking path on an undeveloped railbed,” Rachelle Curran Apse, land trust executive director, said in an announcement. “We will be making a three-mile round-trip hike stopping for beautiful views along the Presumpscot River. We hope you will join us on this peaceful and remote section of the Sebago to Sea trail.
Parking is at the South Windham post office. The hike will begin at the kiosk where the paved section of the trail ends and the undeveloped railbed begins. To RSVP, email info@prlt.org.
