Lake Region High School’s Drama Club’s production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” will open Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m.

“Forum” is based on the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus. It is the story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master win the love of the girl next door. The story involves many classic elements of farce including many puns, a two-story set with many doors, and cases of mistaken identity as characters disguise themselves as one another. The show is suggested for a mature audience.

The show’s veteran staff includes stage and music director Eugene Long and choreographer Pam Collins. Assisting Mr. Long with music is Beth Barefoot-Jones, John Painter, Carla Beaudoin, Ann Polak, Paul Greenstone, and Keegan Eldridge. Michelle Brenner is creating costumes. Greg Watkins, Greg Harris, and Brian Harris are building the set. Reg Watkins will be working the lights and sound assisted by Shep Hayes.

Show dates are March 22, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. and March 24 and 25 at 2 p.m. Doors open one half hour before the show. Tickets can be purchased at Hayes True Value, Bridgton, and Krainin Real Estate in Bridgton, Naples and Raymond. They also can be purchased at Lake Region High School.
