Concerns have been raised about the ages of various Maine political candidates who will be running for office in the coming year. Incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins, who is running for a sixth term in the United States Senate, will soon turn 73.
Aware of Collins’ consistent support for the agenda of President Donald Trump, our current governor, Janet Mills, plans to challenge her for that Senate seat. Although Gov. Mills is currently age 77, she enjoys good health and is sharp as a tack. Regardless of her age, Mills’ experience as a former Maine state representative, Maine attorney general and a two-term Maine governor makes her an excellent candidate for Maine’s next senator in Washington.
