Fork in the Road, a new pizzeria, launched recently in One City Center, in the former space of longtime tenant Tic Taco.
The 650-square-foot venue offers counter service, with seating in the building’s atrium food court. Chef-owner Joe Kenny called his thin, crisp-crust pizza “artisanal Brooklyn-style,” with plenty of non-traditional toppings.
While Fork in the Road always has cheese and pepperoni pizzas, Kenny also offers a rotation of six specialty pies, including a cheeseburger pizza with horseradish-Dijonnaise sauce, pulled pork pizza with a roasted pumpkin puree base, and barbecue chicken pizza with housemade bbq sauce.
“I don’t want people to only associate pizza with red sauce. It can be so much more than that,” Kenny said. “The thing with pizza is you can do anything with it.”
Fork in the Road sells pizza by the slice, along with large and small whole pies, and a selection of soft drinks. The restaurant is also open for breakfast, serving breakfast pizza and French toast bread pudding with bacon maple syrup.
Kenny’s extensive hospitality experience includes serving as a partner at the former Wild Blueberry Cafe in Ogunquit, event chef at the Inn on Peaks Island, and cooking at several locations of Bintliff’s American Cafe, now Bayside American Cafe. Kenny also grew up working at his great-uncle’s former restaurant, The Sportsman’s Grill.
Fork in the Road is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kenny hopes to soon to extend his hours until 8 p.m., and partner with a service to offer delivery.
