The Lobster Roll Remix, a cooking competition to benefit the Maine Lobstermen’s Relief Fund, has been added to the roster of this year’s Maine Lobster Week events.

The fifth annual Maine Lobster Week runs from Sept. 21-28. The Lobster Roll Remix is set for Thursday, Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.

The Remix event features chefs from area restaurants presenting their twists on the lobster roll. Event organizers expect rolls inspired by international cuisines including Thai, Indian, Japanese, French, Italian and Portuguese, as well as regional American versions with Texas and Maine influences.

Restaurants taking part in the competition include Chaval; Dok Mali; Douro; Great Wave Sushi; Little Pig; Portland Lobster Company; Sichuan Kitchen; Sicilian Table of Falmouth; Taj Indian Cuisine of South Portland; and Terlingua and its sister operation, Ocotillo.

A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit The Maine Lobstermen’s Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to lobstermen and their families during times of hardship.

Tickets cost $85 and available at mainelobsterweek.com.
