Patricia (Preti) Soule

CAROLINA SHORES, N.C. – Patricia Preti Soule, 95 years old, died peacefully at her home in Carolina Shores, N.C., on Friday, March 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1930, in Portland, to Frank and May (Yerxa) Preti.

Patricia attended South Portland High School, Connecticut College for Women and received her degree from Tufts University in 1952, in the first graduating class of women.

She married Lester in 1956 and they made their life in South Paris, where she taught primary school, raised their family, enjoyed the arts and supported multiple community groups.

She was an avid walker, skier, golfer, reader and bridge player. Pat and Lester split their time between their Maine and North Carolina homes. Patricia was a beautiful, smart, compassionate woman who loved people of all ages, hosting dinner parties, and being anywhere where life was happening. She was a beacon of joy to all who knew her sharing her chocolate chip cookies, life advice and comics clipped from the newspaper.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Lester Lee Soule; and her brother, Robert Preti.

She is survived by her cherished family; two daughters, Deb Soule and partner Tom of Maine, and Lisa Soule Wind and husband Brian of Ohio; grandchildren Claire (Zach), Lauren, and Alex (Audrey); and many caring relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
