I was dismayed to read — in a real newspaper — the article “Maine Trust for Local News plans print reductions, layoffs.” I’m glad the Press Herald will still be delivered — for now. I’m sorry to read that the little local papers, such as the Forecaster and American Journal, will be digital only. I really enjoyed picking them up to read at my leisure.
I wish to differ with Maine Trust Managing Director Stefanie Manning when she said, “We all live, work and learn online.” We do not all live, work and learn online. Many of us are retired and do not choose to spend our day online, in front of a computer or smartphone. Some of us have a life away from that and haven’t become addicted to a constant online presence.
Yes, the world is changing, but more for the dollar than the good.
