Feb. 28, 2025, was an appalling example of diplomacy. President Trump and Vice President Vance made efforts to humiliate and have Ukraine President Zelenskyy cower to their demands. They acted not as the leaders of the most powerful country in the world. They acted not with the remoteness understanding of the tragedy that has befallen Ukraine with the 2021 attack by President Putin of Russia. They gave little recognition that it was not just the U.S. that provided military support but also Europe, and it was the Ukrainians who have been fighting the battle that President Putin thought would take less than a week.
It’s interesting that I called the White House to voice my objection to their positions and behavior. Messages can be left but only Tuesdays to Thursdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This doesn’t seem to indicate an administration receptive to public input.
I suggest we call the Ukraine Embassy to apologize for our president and vice president’s behavior and publicly support President Zelenskyy. Contact information is 1-202-349-2920 or 1-415-398-0240 or 1-312-642-4388.
