Hazel P. Gilman

WINDHAM – Hazel P. Gilman, 106, of Windham, died on Oct. 9, 2024, in Gorham.

Hazel was born July 20, 1918, in Windham, to Harry M. Plummer and Mildred Lord Plummer.

After graduating from Windham High School, in the class of 1935, she remained in Windham. In 1941 she married Kenneth Gilman and enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1996.

Hazel was employed by Universal Watkins and National Medical Care. After retiring, Hazel proudly volunteered at Brighton Hospital.

For the last six years, Hazel was honored to be the proud recipient of the Boston Post Cane Award presented by the town of Windham.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was predeceased by her sisters Murial Forbes and Idolyn Plummer, and brother, Harry Plummer Jr.

Hazel is survived by her brothers Richard (Nancy) Plummer, David (Mary) Plummer, and sisters Neola Brown and Janice Morrell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews, especially Peter Forbes whose frequent visits brought her great comfort.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at Dolby, Blais, and Segee Windham Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A private interment will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Windham.
