For more than a decade, I have served the Scarborough community in one form or another. My first real foray into public service was the Planning Board back in 2013. During my tenure, I was fortunate to serve with Cory Fellows. I supported his elevation to chair of the Planning Board because of his calm, even-handed demeanor. He is considerate, rational and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to our local ordinances, processes and procedures. Much of what I learned by way of running a public meeting came from watching him masterfully handle tough situations, facilitating discussions and treating all interested parties and colleagues with respect and dignity. Fellows is exactly the type of person we need representing us on the Scarborough Town Council. I am proud to fully support his candidacy this November.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
