Jake Thomas Halpin
SCARBOROUGH – Jake Halpin, 27, of Scarborough, died Friday Feb. 10, 2023, while doing one of his favorite activities, snowmobiling near St. Agatha.
He was born in Portland May 26, 1995, the son of Tim and Cynthia (Lyons) Halpin. Jake grew up in Scarborough where he participated in all the youth activities of youth soccer and baseball. He was an active member of the Scarborough Community where he developed lifelong friendships. He attended what was then St. Joseph’s (St. Brigid) Elementary School where his mother, Cindy, is a teacher. He followed in his grandfather’s, father and sister’s footsteps, graduating from Cheverus High School in 2013.
Jake loved everything outdoors. Together with his older sister, Thaley, the Halpin’s enjoyed many family activities, from snowmobiling and snowboarding in the winter, to camping and hunting in the fall and later in life spending time at their camp on Little Sebago boating, tubing, and waterskiing. The family made a lot of great memories and often shared them with family and friends. Jake grew up as part of the extended Risbara family spending time in Eustis doing everything fun that had a motor attached to it, four wheeling, snowmobiling, dirt biking. He was known by all as a friendly, fun-loving guy and he always had a smile for you, which became infectious no matter what kind of day you were having.
At the time of his passing Jake was employed at Risbara Bros. Construction as a site foreman where his father has been employed for the last 20-plus years.
Jake is survived by his parents; his sister, Thaley Halpin Donoghue and her husband Trevor and their daughter Adelyn Grace of Durham; his grandmother, Darcy Lyons of Skowhegan; his aunts Mary Beth Halpin of New York, Deborah Halpin and her husband Dick Fearon of Florida, Carol Ann and her husband George Harrison of Colorado, and Julie and her husband Joe Pearson of Florida, his uncle, Thomas Lyons and his fiancé Brandy Newton of Skowhegan; and his cousins Alex Lyons, Connor Pearson, Jameson Pearson and his wife Haley, Kathryn and Evelyn Harrison; and longtime sweetheart, Hannah Daniell.
