BIDDEFORD — A full road closure on lower Main Street in Biddeford will take place on Thursday, July 21 starting at about 4 a.m. until the estimated completion time of 1 p.m. During this time, a 30-inch diameter sewer pipe to be used in upcoming storm drain work will be moved across the road.
Access to Saco using York Hill will be detoured to Route 1 or the turnpike. The North Dam Mill will not be accessible through the Main Street entrance during the shutdown but will be accessible through Pearl Street.
Signs will be set up at the top of York Hill and at the intersection of Alfred and Main Streets to alert motorists that there is no access to York Hill.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
