AUGUSTA — Augusta Police say the body of a man reported missing at the end of January has been found.

In a news release issued Wednesday, Augusta police said Pierre “Pete” R. Bolduc, 57, was found deceased in the city.

Augusta police, with the Maine State Police K-9 team, Augusta Fire and Rescue and a tip from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, located Bolduc, and an investigation into the cause of his death is now underway.

Augusta Police Chief Jared Mills said Bolduc’s body was found near Bond Brook in the wooded area behind the Central Maine Power substation off Mount Vernon Avenue,  and an autopsy is expected. Police said the death is not believed to be suspicious.

Bolduc, a contractor who has for years worked on construction and renovation projects in downtown Augusta and lived in a downtown apartment, was last seen and heard from Jan. 25 in Augusta.

On Jan. 28, Augusta Police issued a news release seeking the public’s help in locating Bolduc. At that time, they didn’t know what he might be wearing or whether he was on foot or traveling in a vehicle.

In the days following his disappearance, Barbara Nicknair, Bolduc’s girlfriend, said she had tried calling his mobile phone number, but there was no answer. Nicknair last spoke to him on the phone in the morning on the day he disappeared; he’d told her to call him when she got off work at 6 p.m.
