On Saturday, May 4, York County Community Action Corporation was presented a check for $7,407.89 from The Fabulous Find Resale Boutique in Kittery. The donation was one of three delivered by the shop from the proceeds of its April sales; the other recipients were Seacoast Community School and Great Bay Stewards. The funds will be used for the Hope Fund, which provides outreach workers with money for immediate or emergency client needs. Most Hope Fund outlays are around $120. The donation will also support the purchase of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for homes in need. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
